Research notes
This is a new development by Federal that was introduced in December 2017 as a definitive cartridge for the AR based platform. The 22 Nosler provided about a 25% improvement in velocity and 30% in energy over the existing 5.56 NATO round when it was introduced in January 2017 and the 224 Valkyrie is set to raise the bar yet again on performance. The Valkyrie is capable of supersonic speeds up to 1,300 yards. The Valkyrie is based on a necked down 6.8mm SPC, which is based on the obsolete .30 Remington case that was introduced in 1906.
