Research notes
As soon as the 243 Winchester was launched in the 1950's and cheap brass became available, wildcatters began necking the 243 Win down to .22 cal. There are two major versions of the 22-243 Win. The first one is the standard 243 necked to .22 cal with no other changes and the second is the 22 Middlestead, which has a 30 degree shoulder.
