Research notes
This was a development by Western Cartridge Company during the latter part of the 1950’s. It was called the 308 Winchester Magnum and developed with military applications in mind. It was based on the commercial 308 Win case with case diameter increased for improved ballistics. See also HWS 3 p. 425.
