Research notes
High Pressure cartridges date from around 1908. This is a rimless, grooveless version. This was used to proof-test the barrels at the early stages of production. The case was smaller in diameter and used a lead, flat based blunt bullet of about 220gr. it would have been loaded to up to 75,000 psi pressure.
