Very old wildcat that was already offered by Ackley in 1941 as a standard design to be used in re-barrelled 22 Savage rifles when it became illegal to hunt with the 22 Savage in many US states. It gave hunters an affordable alternative for single shot and lever-action rifles. This seemed ironic, given that the .22 Savage was originally based on the 25-35 Win case necked down
