Research notes
Introduced circa 1890 by MUNITIONS UND WAFFENFABRIKEN, SÖMMERDA (M&W-S), this cartridge continued in production until circa 1920. It was relatively popular and served as a rook, carbine and target pistol cartridge. Unheadstamped versions of the cartridge are thought to have been produced by Dreyse prior to 1899. (Dixon Ref.
