Research notes
Developed by Lew Schafer of 3K Industries, the 444 Schafer Mag is based on the 444 Marlin case, turned on a lathe to match the outside dimensions of the 44 Magnum and is used in custom barrelled Thompson Contender barrels. This will enable shooters to use 44 Special as well as 44 Magnum ammo through the same barrel.
