With duels between opposing parties being prohibited, the tradition continued from the late 19th to the beginning of the 20th century, albeit as a form of sport. This cartridge originates from France and was used for mock duels by persons wearing protective clothing. Bullets were of graphite or wax and could be used in the handguns of the day, notably the 11mm French Ordnance revolver as well as being interchangeable with the 44 Russian.
