Research notes
The 416 Barnes was the last cartridge designed during the late 1980’s by the late Frank Barnes. All the 416 calibers at the time of this design were for African hunting conditions and he felt that there would be a need for a .416 cal. adapted for the American hunter. It is based on the 45-70 case, which makes it ideal for American hunters with lever action rifles.
