Research notes
The 11mm Javelle is a horizontal pinfire cartridge and was designed by Michel Javelle in the late 1850’s to early 1860’s. This is the third variation; the other two had the base of the pin holder visible and flush with the bottom of the case. The cartridge case is lead/tin based and has a pin that is fixed to the inside of the base and goes up to a percussion cap that sits in the base of the bullet. There was a discussion on the IAA FORUM as well regarding this cartridge. (Erlmeier, Brandt Ref. 162B).
